Nutritional Counseling
Nutrition
can play a major role in your health. Dr.
Books is a Board Certified Clinical Nutritionist. Employing chiropractic
beliefs that “the power that made the body can heal the body” and
“healing comes from inside out,” Dr. Books will work with you to
find out nutritional imbalances and deficiencies that are affecting your
moods, causing you physical pain, and impacting overall health. And she will do this all NATURALLY.
She may
utilize the QXCI-SCIO computerized testing instrument, (considered the most
comprehensive medical assessment program in the world today), questionnaires,
blood, urine and saliva testing, heavy metals testing in addition to
listening and questioning you in depth to find out the nutritional and
chemical imbalances. She may recommend diet, supplementation, life style
modifications, or stress reduction techniques to help your body come into
better alignment.
“I go to Dr. Books because I
don’t want to just take drugs and treat the symptoms. I want to get to
the root of the problem.” J.D.
Diet vs Nutrition
Diet is what one eats and drinks and nutrition is what happens inside the
body as a result of what ones eats and drinks.
Good nutrition happens when we provide ourselves with all the nutrients we
need in adequate amounts and in a form the body can absorbs and utilize. Much
more of what we need to achieve in good nutrition is acquired by food we eat,
but increasingly nutritional supplements are needed to keep us healthy in the
midst of stresses and circumstances in our lives, including environmental
pollution, excessive food refinement, loss of sleep, exhaustion, emotional
strain, dieting, and illness.
The Role Nutrition Plays in Disease
Nutritional deficiency is one of the basic reasons for aging and disease. The
Surgeon General’s Nutrition and Health Report of 1998 stated that 68%
of all deaths (2-3 million) are nutrition related. Embracing good dietary and
supplemental nutrition increases our chances in preventing or postponing many
of the diseases that negatively impact our quality of life, such as heart
disease, some cancers, diabetes, and others. Good nutrition can provide the
foundation for successful treatment.
